With students beginning to pour in, and already showing inklings of 9/11 Truth, it's important that we strike early and often for the truth.  I have seeded the comments to the following op-ed by one of Harvard's rare outspoken faculty critics of Israel with some truth.  Why?  He invokes 9/11 without a hint of truthiness.  Please keep an eye on the comments and contribute to the discussion.  If 9/11 Truth can take off at Harvard the world will notice.  I've already spoken to more than a few people around here who are ready.  Please help us jump-start this incredibly important discussion!
Israel and Censorship at Harvard
Published On Friday, September 14, 2007  1:29 AM
Since Vietnam, Israel has become the heartbeat of U.S. foreign policy and a litmus test of what can be debated—and even of who will be allowed to speak—on university campuses. This year, the Congress of the University and College Union—the British lecturers’ union—proposed a boycott of Israeli universities and academics for what it regards as their complicity in 40 years of Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands. This boycott has its counterpart in a decades-old U.S. practice of threatening, defaming, or censoring scholars who dare to criticize Israel.

Two years ago at Harvard, a social scientist who was the most widely cited in his area of study but who had, in a popular book, criticized the U.S.-Israel alliance, became the subject of insinuations that he was anti-Semitic—insinuations that were likely fatal to his candidacy. In recent years, at least three professors—Oxford’s Tom Paulin, DePaul’s Norman Finkelstein, and Rutgers’ Robert Trivers—have been invited to speak at Harvard and then disinvited after complaints that they had spoken critically of Israel or disagreed sharply with Harvard Law School Professor Alan M. Dershowitz regarding Israel’s military conduct.

I assume the annoymouse

has retreated to a nearby hole, not to be seen again.

no he's around

And behaving not too badly actually.  The problem that has emerged is an idiot posting nonsense text with all kinds of weirdness in it...  Otherwise we are doing OK I think... this is just the beginning, interesting they published this before most students have actually arrived on campus, but that's the Crimson way.  In another column, the student president of the crimson says that Harvard should pay for subscriptions to the Boston Globe and New York Times to make sure every student gets a chance to be enlightened by their wisdom....  the times owns the globe of course, and Crimson staffers, especially presidents, tend to aspire to jobs at the NYT upon graduation.  It's really so sad...

temporary post for the crimson

[Great. The editor of the crimson is kinda buggy, so I used this one -- now it won't let me COPY from it!]

As Mr. Espada has succinctly pointed out in his comment titled "you might an apologist for Zionist extremism if", there is an unrivaled double standard in play here. And while for some here, the relation of 9/11 to the topic at hand, namely fierce suppression of any and all critique concerning everything remotely associable to judaism, apparently appears intangible, 9/11 cuts right to the heart of the issue.

In fact, there probably is no better illustration of this double standard's immensity, as a sober breakdown of the known facts reveals.

Beyond all the handwaving and appeal to authority performed by NIST et al, no explanation is to be found in their reports for the collapse of the WTC, much less in the manner witnessed. The casual reader might expect it to be buried somewhere within the thousands of pages of technical data and diagrams, but alas, it is just not there. The steady refusal of supporters of the "official conspiracy theory", including the authors of the ostensibly authoritative NIST report, to debate their opponents in an open, public forum is but a testament to their thesis' indefensibility.

And yet, being armed with nothing but B-movie fantasies of terrorists in possession of supernatural powers and magic jet fuel, a populist plaintiff was able to indict arab-muslim"Al Qaida", on the basis of a highly disputed OBL video serendipitously found by US forces in a basement in Kandahar in October of 2001, after OBL himself had repeatedly denied responsibility through arab media. Additional evidence included a piece of luggage left at Boston Logan airport, conveniently containing a flight manual, uniform, letter adressing the purported hijackers and a Koran (eew, Mr. Atta -- no toothbrush or spare underwear? Count yourself lucky you didn't need that flight manual, either!), as well as the infamous indestructible passport of "Satan Al-Suqami" found on a New York City street.

How could the populist plaintiff, despite this ridiculously transparent framing of patsies in lieu of hard evidence, still make his case? Suppression of contrary evidence. And this is where we're right back on topic.

Why no coverage of Larry "Runway 69" Silverstein, who, possibly not only figuratively, made a killing through the destruction of the WTC (16 million invested, 4.5 billion gained)? Why no coverage of the "Dancing Israelis", who, despite appearing exalted by the catastrophe and having traces of explosives in their van, were quietly deported a few weeks later on orders from DHS secretary Michael "Gut Feeling" Chertoff? Why no mention of Dov "Remote Control" Zakheim, the comptroller of the Pentagon under whose watch 2.3 trillion in transactions went "missing", publicized on the eve of September 10th, of all days?

I guess we all know the answer.

In closing, and despite the fact that this should be obvious to any sentient, compassionate being, I would like to add that, without doubt, it is wrong to criminalize anyone along abstract lines such as as religion or color. Naturally, that goes for everyone, including jews and palestinians. But accordingly, no one should be exempt from justice because of any such feature, as that not only constitutes racism all by itself, but essentially encourages criminal behavior. Just imagine what would happen if the Cosa Nostra were able to defy justice by squealing "anti-italian".

brilliant, brilliant

argument. thanks to bruce.

thanks Bruce

And anyone else who has helped out on that forum.  I hope to be reporting exciting developments from campus soon!  Don't forget that Harvard is full of PNAC guys AND Ernest May, who co-wrote (among other trash) the 9/11 Commission Report with his good friend Philip Zelikow.

kate of the kiosk's picture

so what happened to you over at the crimson?

gretavo??? who is stephen devoy? that "comment" shook me up a bit, as i'm sure it did you, of course.

letters on MUJCA

to Downs.  faith restored. take it this is you, gretavo.

first learned of this group from speaking to Mike Berger over at 911truth.org.

i am affiliated with and support a smaller yet similar group - AJMA - here in nj.

American Joint Multifaith Association.

smearing effective activists

is what happened to me!  devoy was someone with whom I protested against the war with regularly in Harvard Square during 2003.  he proceeded to accuse me of all kinds of things online, things with absolutely no basis in reality.  what i don't know is if he was/is legitimately paranoid or a plant intending to sow mistrust in the antiwar movement.  par for the course, and not surprising that people dig it up on occasion in lame attempts to discredit me.

Big_D's picture

And that was pretty lame.

Sounded more like a veiled threat than anything.

Anyway, speaking of MUJCA, Barret posted a blog over at 911b & included this link.

An excellent, if not sickening, read.

Here's another excellent read I just ran across also.

double standards

yes and and i noticed excerpt on the crimson blog...very sad.  let's see what they have to say to that.

Big_D's picture

Denial or something deeper?

This part of the story really got me -

"I have been invited to dinner with a friend, a surgeon, and his family in their affluent home in West Jerusalem. His father fled Vienna for Palestine shortly after the Nazis took over Austria. They are liberal Israelis, no friends of Sharon and no friends of the growing religious right. They support the creation of a Palestinian state. I worry about them every time a suicide bomb explodes in the city.

At the table I try to make them grasp, just for a moment, what I felt watching the children on the dunes in Khan Younis. I tell the story. They admit that it is wrong, and then add, "But you have to understand, the Palestinians are brain-washed." I concede the point, hoping only to impart the raw cruelty of what I saw. I try again. I fail. I fall silent. "

I ask you who's brain-washed here?

kate of the kiosk's picture

who is bw'd

absolutement. i had the same discuss with israeli friend a while back - "they are not as evolved as you and I, Kate".

the might of the almighty mainstream media. who owns that? who has control? perhaps table discussions should aim at how much access to truth-in-reporting do any people have, whether it be isrealis, palestinians, USians or what have you.

by hook or crook

we're going to bust the debate and discussion WIDE OPEN here at Harvard, sooner rather  than later.  gretavo has not yet begun to fight!!  :)

I told my wife zionists might be coming to get me any day now, but I would rather die seeking & speaking the truth, than live hiding from it.

lol being a student of "the Spanish" I stumbled on quidado until i realized you meant cuidado :)

the world is our crib.  there are decent people of all nationalities and religions, a lot of them just need to be woken up and fed the truth.  Gretavo you have my gratitude as the number one short order cook over there.

thanks man

i'll keep serving up the truth quesadillas so long as I'm able.  ESPECIALLY in my crib I refuse to be told to shut up or be ignored... here's another brilliant op-ed in the crimson...  http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=519545
