I am not aware of evidence linking the ISI to the events of September 11. The assertion that the ISI sent money to Atta is meaningless, since no one has been able to show what that money might have been used for or, more importantly, that Atta was guilty of the crimes of that day. It seems to me that the endgame many of us have been predicting since 2006 or earlier -- that ultimately a contrived "connection" between Pakistan and 9/11 would be used against Pakistan by the actual perpetrators -- is closer than ever before. We are at war not only with Afghanistan but with Pakistan as well, or so it would seem from Obama's inability to construct a sentence that does not include both. If or when a propaganda boost is needed to get Americans behind a war in Pakistan that extends beyond the "tribal regions," you can expect that the canard about the wire transfer will be front and center.
