Those bombs inside WTC 1&2 could have been placed between floors like this:

Collumn ->| | Concrete floor ||

Explosive->|+| VVVVVVVVVVV || <----Space Between ceiling and floor where squibs could

| | Steel trusses ||

That's why nobody could have seen them.
