A sad day in the Philippines
Submitted by juandelacruz on Wed, 2009-11-25 14:28.A powerful warlord protected* by the Arroyo administration massacred 50+ people, mostly women and journalists who were traveling to file the candidacy of a political rival. Some of the victims were unrelated civilians who just happened to be traveling at the same time and place.
This is said to be the highest number of journalists killed in a day (18 as of last count).

3 days have passed, yet still no arrests. Instead of sending the Army to surround the warlord's compound and arrest him, President Arroyo sent an envoy to ask for his cooperation.
*In a previous election, a school supervisor who exposed election anomalies was murdered. The government failed to solve that murder which occurred within the jurisdiction of the warlord who is now the suspect for the massacre. That failure to solve is believed to be due to the current administration benefiting from if not participating in the election cheating.
